About Community Development 

The Department of Community Development strives to help protect and expand upon the many great resources offered in Pittsylvania County to continue to foster an inviting and attractive environment to live, work, and play. This is done through a variety of services that are intended to promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Pittsylvania County.

The services that Community Development provides include Building Inspections, Planning, and Zoning/Code Enforcement. The primary function of the Department is to oversee property development and land use activities within the County to ensure that it is safe, attractive, and enhances the quality of life for our citizens.
