New Commercial Construction

Below are the required documents and information that Pittsylvania County Community Development requires before issuing a building permit for new commercial construction projects. 

• One digital (pdf) copy of sealed (architect or engineer) plans, including all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings emailed to Community Development
• One paper copy of sealed plans submitted to Community Development
• Approved site plan
• Completed building permit application
• Erosion and Sediment Control Permit

Improving Existing Commercial Construction

The following documents are required for additions and upfits of existing commercial properties. 

• One digital (pdf) of sealed (architect or engineer) plans, including all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings emailed to Community Development
• One paper copy of sealed plans submitted to Community Development
• Completed application
• Approved site plan (if needed)
• Asbestos certification
