Plumbing Permits

A plumbing permit is often needed for residential construction and renovation. Generally, a plumbing permit is needed for the installation of any piping or the replacement of any plumbing pipes, including sewer, well or septic tank connections, or hot and cold water supply.

All plumbing permits and inspections in Pittsylvania County are conducted in accordance with the Virginia Plumbing Code.

A plumbing permit is not usually required for the replacement of fixtures if no water supply and distribution systems or sanitary drainage systems are altered.

A plumbing permit is always needed for any new construction. For residential projects, a plumbing inspection includes a base fee of $45.00 with an additional $1.50 charge for each additional plumbing fixture.
