Industrial Development Authority  

The Pittsylvania County Industrial Development Authority works with the County's Economic Development department to promote industry and develop trade in Pittsylvania County. The Pittsylvania County Industrial Development Authority ("IDA") is composed of seven members, representing each District in the County. IDA members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors, serving a four year term. 

Staunton River Regional Industrial Facility Authority

The Staunton River Regional Industrial Facility Authority (RIFA) is a collaboration between Pittsylvania County, the City of Danville, and the Town of Hurt. In short, the Staunton River RIFA was established to improve the economic base in the region by developing, owning, and operating one or more facilities on a cooperative basis, particularly in the Southern Virginia Multimodal Park in Hurt. The three localities work on a cost and revenue sharing agreement.

Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority

The Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority (RIFA) is a joint economic development initiative with the City of Danville. Members are from the Board of Supervisors and City Council. The general purpose of RIFA is to enhance the economic base of the City and the County by cooperatively developing, owning, and operating facilities. 

Fire and Rescue Commission 

The Fire and Rescue Commission serves as a partner with the Department of Public Safety, assisting with the development of capital improvement and annual budget projects and helping coordinate collaboration between the volunteer fire companies and rescue squads and all county emergency responders. Collectively with the Public Safety Department, the Fire and Rescue Commission serves as a centralized unit responsible to the Board of Supervisors for all fire and EMS issues throughout Pittsylvania County.

Local Emergency Planning Committee 

The Local Emergency Planning Committee serves as a focal point in the community for information and discussions about hazardous substances, emergency planning, and health and environmental risks due to hazardous substances. The LEPC works closely with the Department of Public Safety. 

Board of Zoning Appeals 

Members of the Board of Zoning Appeals are appointed by the Judge in the Circuit Court of Pittsylvania County, and they serve a five year term. The function of the BZA is to hear and decide Special Use Permit requests, to authorize variances from the regulations set forth in the Zoning Ordinance, and to hear and decide appeals from any decision or determination made by the Zoning Administrator.

Planning Commission 

The Pittsylvania County Planning Commission works in concert with the Zoning department to make recommendations on requests for special use permits, rezonings, and variance. Depending on the type of application, those requests, with a recommendation from the Planning Commission, then go before either the Board of Zoning Appeals or the Board of Supervisors.

CPMT Board

The CPMT Board is the entity responsible for the Children's Services Act (CSA). The CPMT Board is responsible for policies and programs and ensures accordance with all state mandates and local CSA policies. The CPMT meets once a month. 

Social Services Board 

The Pittsylvania County Social Services Board oversees the work of the Pittsylvania County Department of Social Services, as required by the Code of Virginia. The Board meets monthly.  

 The Pittsylvania County Electoral Board is composed of three members appointed by the Circuit Court Judges. They serve staggered three-year terms.The Board has two primary responsibilities: appoint the Registrar and the Election Officers.
