Pittsylvania County Beautification Committee presents
its Semi-Annual Litter Clean-Up Day
The Pittsylvania County Beautification Committee is hosting a fall clean-up event on Saturday, October 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at the meeting places listed below. Supplies will be available at each site.
**Due to the effects of Tropical Storm Helene and generally poor weather conditions, the opportunity to participate has been extended to Saturday, October 12 for those who cannot attend the Oct. 5 event, but still want to pick up litter and be eligible for prizes and recognition. Supplies are available from your district representative.**
Individuals, families, civic groups, churches, youth groups and more are invited to participate in this event, with clean-up sites on Saturday, Oct. 5 located in each of the County's seven voting districts: Dan River, Westover, Chatham-Blairs, Callands-Gretna, Tunstall, Banister and Staunton River.
Those who want to participate are asked to fill out the sign up form and waiver and watch a safety video by VDOT(located below).
For those groups supervising youth age 17 and under, there must be one adult per six children.
Participants are asked to fill out a cleanup report after the event is completed and submit it to their district representative so the County can compile data for future grant opportunities. Those can be emailed to your district representative (address included below).
Vests, bags and grabbers will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
Participants are also encouraged to bring their own gloves, grabbers, rakes, shovels and other supplies.
Youth needing to record volunteer hours can download this PDF and present it to their district representative for signature.
Prizes will be awarded for the most bags filled, most miles cleaned and the most unusual item found at the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors' November 19 meeting, 7 p.m. at 39 Bank Street in Chatham.
