The Pittsylvania County Electoral Board is composed of three members appointed by the Circuit Court judges. They serve staggered three-year terms. Primary duties of the Electoral Board are to:

• Approve voting equipment to be used, along with developing and approving a security plan to secure all equipment and materials.
• Ensure the proper creation, production, and custody of ballots.
• Conduct the canvass of each election on the following day of the election to ascertain that all precinct results are complete and accurate.
• Appointments of Officers of Election and ensure that proper training, assignment, and review of election duties.
• Selection, appointment, and annual performance review of the General Registrar.
