An Electrical Permit is required for adding, removing, or relocating fixtures, appliances, or wiring for any electrical work. An electrical permit is needed before a property owner can upgrade electrical service, add a permanent generator, or install or replace electrical wiring.

The Building Inspections office has several fees associated with different residential electrical permits:

• $45.00 for new service/service change
• $45.00 for relocation or replacement of meter base, panel box or entrance wire
• $45.00 for extending wiring

In most cases, multiple inspections will be required after an electrical permit is approved.
