The Pittsylvania County Clerk of Circuit Court can process name change requests in Pittsylvania County. 

The civil filing fee for a name change request is $41. 

Applications may be mailed or may be submitted in person (ATTN: Civil Division). The petitioner's signature must be acknowledged before a Notary Public. If submitting in person, the petitioner's signature can be acknowledged by a staff member. If electing to have a staff member provide the acknowledgement, wait to sign the application in the presence of the staff member and be prepared to present a government-issued photo ID.

Processing time varies from case to case. If a Judge signs the Order for Name Change, staff from the Clerk of Court will forward a certified copy.
