In Pittsylvania County, every dog owner is required to have a dog tag. The rates for these tags are below. 

• Spayed, Neutered, or Non-Altered: $5
• Kennel Tags (1-20 dogs): $40
• Kennel Tags (20+ dogs): $50
• Duplicate Tag: $2
• Declared Vicious (must be obtained from Animal Control Office): $50

Requirements

Dog tags and kennel tags run calendar year (January through December). They are available for purchase on November 1 for the next year and must be purchased before January 31 of each year.

A current rabies certificate must be presented at the time of purchase. If you mail in your payment (check or money order) you must send a copy of the rabies certificate. We will stamp the certificate and return it to you along with the tags.

Where to Purchase

Dog and Kennel tags may be purchased with cash, check or money order at the Treasurer's Office between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday; or by mail with a check or money order along with a copy of the rabies certificate.
