The Pittsylvania County Department of Public Works issues water and wastewater (sewer) bills every two months, which equates to six times a year. There are a variety of ways to pay these bills:

• Pay online
• Automatic Draft Payments. Please complete this form and submit it to our office in person at our office, via fax at 434-836-7139 or via email. 
• Pay via phone by calling 434-425-7820. A 2.65% processing fee will be applied. 
• In person at the Pittsylvania County Treasurer's office located at 11 Bank Street-Courthouse Annex
• Via Mail to PO Box 230 Chatham, VA 24531

Online Payment Details 

Bills can be viewed and/or printed via our online payment portal. You will need your account number and the last four digits of the telephone number that we have on file. After signing in, your bills will be listed. Click on a bill to view, print or pay.

Phone Payment Information

Please have your account number available in order to complete the transaction.
For online and telephone payments a 2.65% processing fee will be added. Remember, you will need to post or make your payment BEFORE THE CUT-OFF DATE, which is 10 days past the due date shown on your Bill. The failure of any customer to receive a bill shall not relieve him from the obligation to pay the amount due nor waive penalty for failure to pay when due.

Mail Payment Information 

If paying by check or money order through the mail, please include the payment coupon (bottom portion of bill). Payments received after the 15th of the month will be charged a $10.00 late penalty. To avoid late fees, please mail your payment at least seven (7) business days before the due date specified on your bill.

Direct Payments

Payments can be made in person at the Pittsylvania County Treasurer's office located at 11 Bank Street-Courthouse Annex in Chatham, Virginia. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Your bill is required to make an in office payment.

Payment drop boxes are located on the exterior wall of the entrance ramp leading into the building and the other is a drive-up box in the parking lot behind the building. Payments dropped after 5 p.m. will be credited next business day. Dropped payments should include the payment coupon, or at a minimum include your account number. No cash, please.

Service Disconnections / Reconnections

If service is disconnected, the customer must pay the total delinquent bill balance, any delinquent fees and all applicable penalties before services can be restored. If a disconnect order is issued, the account will also be charged a re-connection fee. 

If services are disconnected, a reconnect order will be submitted as soon as the account is paid current. If possible, services will be restored on the same day, but re-connection is not assured any sooner than the next work day following payment of the account.  Please contact our office if your service is disconnected and you have paid by phone or online service.
