The Public Relations department works with all other county offices and departments to ensure that citizens have access to reliable, accurate, and timely information. Public Relations oversees county messaging that goes out to citizens, businesses, and media outlets. Responsibilities include:

• Managing Pittsylvania County social media accounts on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
• Working as a liaison with news media outlets by providing information, conducting interviews, and arranging interviews with other county representatives, when necessary.
• Developing a steady flow of information to disseminate to Pittsylvania County citizens through a wide range of channels, including social media, press releases, newsletters, the county website, a weekly podcast, and local media outlets, among others.
• Ensuring that all information coming from Pittsylvania County is helpful, accurate, and up-to-date.
• Driving efforts to promote the county to county employees and citizens.
