Bridges and Highways

The Commonwealth Transportation Board, General Assembly, and State Highway Commission, often at the request of the Board of Supervisors, have renamed several bridges and highways in Pittsylvania County to commemorate the lives and contributions of County residents.

Under the current law, the Board of Supervisors passes a resolution recommending the renaming of a bridge or other piece of public transportation infrastructure and then the Commonwealth Transportation Board, which is an advisory Board of the Virginia Department of Transportation, makes the final decision.
