Position Title: Program Site Attendant (Part-time After School)

Reports To: Program Site Supervisor (Part-time After School)
Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Program Site Supervisor, the candidate supports after school childcare programs, activities, and designated duties in accordance with the program standards.

- Assists with planning, implementing, and actively participating with staff and children in activities including games, music, arts, crafts, and playground activities, as well as other activities in accordance with program goals.
- Maintains a positive and inclusive environment that fosters learning and growth.
- Observes all activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Assists with set-up and clean-up of program areas and equipment.
- Adhere to all program policies and procedures, including safety and behavior management protocols.
- Always maintains sight and sound supervision of children.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. One year of experience working with children in a structured environment (schools, youth programs, camp, etc.) is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skill:
- General knowledge, skill, and interest in recreational activities suitable for children ages five (5) through twelve (12) in a childcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective relationships with parents, co-workers, participants and the public.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and adhere to program rules and objectives.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a genuine interest in working with children.
- Must be able to work the hours of 2:45pm to 6:30pm, Monday-Friday, and from 12:45pm to 6:30pm on early dismissal days, for the duration of the Pittsylvania County School Year.
Additional Requirements:
Must be age 18 or older. Must complete pre-employment training and attend a minimum of 12 hours of childcare related training annually. Subject to a complete criminal history check and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results. Following a conditional offer of employment, must submit to a Tuberculosis test.
Certifications and Licenses:
First Aid & CPR certification are required upon employment.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work frequently requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, occasionally requires sitting and frequently requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work may have occasional exposure to environmental conditions; work is primarily performed indoors at school sites and generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. classroom setting, light traffic).
