Calling young anglers!
Pittsylvania County will host its first Youth Fishing Day on Saturday, November 11, 8 a.m. to noon at Wayside Park, located at 1678 Main Street in Hurt. This event is for youth only age 15 and younger and is free to those who register. A license is not required for those 15 and under. Sycamore Creek will be stocked with 400 pounds of rainbow trout from Cedar Springs Trout Farm in Rural Retreat, so bring your poles and bait and be ready for tight lines!
- All children must be accompanied by an adult.
- The event is capped at 100 participants.
- Parents/guardians age 16 and older may assist their child during the event.
- The limit is 6 fish per person with a length limit of 7 inches. Once the trout is taken into possession by placing in the creel, it becomes part of the daily creel limit and may not be released (culled).
* Once the event is concluded at non, those ages16 and older are welcome to fish in the creek, but a basic fishing license is required *
A conservation police officer with the Virginia Conservation Police will be on site during the event.
