Pittsylvania County Public Safety, in partnership with many other area organizations and our volunteer fire and rescue agencies, puts on a variety of training opportunities for current and aspiring Fire and EMS personnel and volunteers. Keep up with all upcoming training and certification opportunities below. 

Oftentimes volunteer agencies will sponsor the cost of their members completing training and obtaining certifications. If you are with a local volunteer agency, be sure to discuss sponsorship with the agency leadership.

EMT Class

Gretna Fire and Rescue is hosting a EMT class for initial EMT certification. Important information:

  • Cost for this class is $550 per student
  • Class fee covers all class fees, lab materials, and curriculum materials
  • Class Days:
    • March 14, 2023 to Jun 24, 2023
      • Tuesdays and Thursdays 1815-2145 (6:15pm-9:45pm)
      • Some Saturdays 0900-1700 (9:00am-5:00pm)
  • Students under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to attend orientation on March 14, 2023
  • Deadline to register is March 7, 2023
  • Requirements:
    • Students must have CPR
    • Reliable access to internet to complete assignments
    • Students can not miss more than 20% of classroom time
