Child Services Act (CSA) Case Manager

Reports To:         CSA COORDINATOR

Summary of Position: The CSA (Child Services Act) Case Manager supports the CSA Office Staff, case managers and CPMT (Community Policy and Management Team) members by performing a wide and complex variety of activities that often require interpretation and application of established policies, rules, and regulations.

 

Essential Job Functions:  Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.  The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.  Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

 

  • Assists with preparation and input of all client information into current database facilities/programs to conduct comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of CSA -funded services,
  • Reviews case records and makes site-visits at assessment and treatment,
  • Assists with training of case managers from all agencies on how the CSA process is handled on an as needed basis,
  • Oversees the Parent Satisfaction of Vendor and Parent Satisfaction of FAPT surveys; reports results to the CSA Coordinator and CPMT Quarterly,
  • Maintains Parental Agreements in compliance with CSA Policy,
  • Informs the CSA Coordinator on an ongoing basis regarding case management issues,
  • Ensures compliance with facility and agency paperwork in preparation for OCS audits,
  • Participates in treatment team meetings for all cases being case managed by CSA, as well as other agencies,
  • Become CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) certified and complete CANS for cases as needed,
  • Complete all FAPT paperwork for cases managed in the CSA office,
  • Complete IACCTs and residential placements as needed and assist the case manager with the process as needed,
  • Ensure the CSA office has all the necessary IACCT documents for all Residential cases including foster care,
  • Assist CSA staff in other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred with two at least (2) years of experience in Case Management.

 

Required Knowledge and Skill:   Comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.  Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements. Proficient in current computer programs. Ability to create and type complex forms, tables, spreadsheets.  Display professionalism and courteousness towards the public. Work well under pressure; organize, multi-task and perform work independently. Exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in performing duties. Knowledge and ability to work with public and private, non-private and private for-profit providers for children adolescent and adult services.

 

Certifications and licenses: Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:  This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
