The primary mission of the Pittsylvania County Youth Commission (PCYC) is to act as a voice for Pittsylvania County youth in serving as a link between students and our elected county governing officials, the Board of Supervisors. Finally, the PCYC performs and/or sponsors various service projects throughout the year and helps organize and/or publicize countywide high school social events to help build a sense of community among all students living here. The Youth Commission is made up of high school public, private or homeschool students, representing each of the seven election districts. Members must be students in grades 9 through 12 and residents of Pittsylvania County. Applications are available in the link below and are taken until the deadline. Applications for the commission are reviewed in mid July with selections made in late July. Terms last one year (August 1-July 31). Students may reapply each year.
